Where's JT's little "Woo Hoo" Emoticon?

:)

Finally! It's about time they got that deal done. With some proper management and a bit of luck, the Michigan Line could become true "higher speed" corridor for it's whole length.....

Uhhhh, what deal??? Haven't heard anything about 'that deal' being finalized yet ( and from some rumblings, won't happen until the new year!!)

Kinda curious about why that particular building was purchased too, seeing as it's about 2 miles from the mainline in town---musta gotten a helluva deal

Wow! That loader looks like it hasn't even had its Cherry popped! Nothing like spending the big bucks for auxiliary equipment like a loader. A lot of ties could be replaced or many feet of track could be surfaced for what that thing cost!

Ya need a loader to move the ties... So sure you could get some more ties and stuff but how are you going to lift them off the ground, plus owning is cheaper over time then renting.

Assuming you copied and pasted the job descriptions rather than retyping them, it appears that whoever at Amtrak wrote them needs stronger written communication skills as there are a number of mis-spellings in them. Obviously that was not a requirement for that person's job.

The US federal gov't is a dolorous example of what happens to bureaucratic systems after about 200-250 years. All major democracies have committed financial suicide between 200 and 250 years of age....assuming they made it that far....

Not unique to the government though. Look at any publication, you'll find poor grammar, misspellings, etc. More of a statement of our society in general where "LOL", "BRB", etc are normal lexicon.

Did someone say that this is not near a rail line? Seems like just bad taste not to have a railroad building near the actual railroad!

Why? Plenty of instances where the RR gets a good deal on a office property that is no where near the tracks.

I just find it somewhat odd that AMTRAK is spending the money on an office building, when it sounds like the deal with the state isn't even inked yet?

It'll come in due time really. But, with the State you really never know. NS might be looking to rid of the Jackson-Kzoo segment next, or am I mistaken that that segment is included in the State's proposal from NS?
