CSX "Boat Yard"

Unread post by Robertrains »

Was the old CSX yard off of Court street in Port Huron officially (by CSX) named "Boat Yard?" I get different answers from fellow railfans. Some say, "that was the official name." Others say, "that's just what us railfans call it!"

I just just need to know the official name. I want to be correct for my description of a photo from that yard for my 2011 Train Calendar. Of course the yard is long gone!
Thanx, if anybody knows!

You know after taking trains in and out of there, for a while, I cant say it had a offical name. As far as I rember, we called the old PH&D yard the PH&D yard. We refered to the "Boat Yard" as the Boat Yard, but dont know that, it was the "offical name".

Acutally the photo labled GTW boat dock and yard is the CSX Boat Dock. The GTW slip and handfull of tracks is at the very top of the photo. Also the photo was most likley taken from either the brige in the up position or a light tower as there were no signls down there, that I know of. IIRC the building on the far right at the south end of the yard near the plastic hoppers was the Ice House. Next heading towards the camera was the Freight House, and just out of the photo near the bottom where the car is, sat the Depot. That is a sweet photo and brings back a lot of memories.
