Coe Rail, now Michigan Air–Line Railway, operates dinner trains on the former GTW line in Walled Lake.

From a privileged source I work with:Don Simon wrote:Either owner changed his mind or new owners. Down to one freight customer that I know of.I thought they went out of business last winter??
The owner tried to move down to Nashville but did not get far, the only customer is American Toys. CSX NEVER EVER EVER ran their power down the line to serve industries. The CRLE reporting marks were sold a while back and occasionally somebody goofs and sends a CRLE car back to Wixom for repair. There is no such thing as a car repair shop there.
Re: Coe Rail
Also note, the railroad is still for sale along with the dinner train...

Re: Coe Rail
If only Michigan Seamless tube would have committed to some car loads, then we would possibly still have part of the line from CSX to the plant in South Lyon, was back there a few weeks ago digging a foundation for a new transformer station pad and noticed that he entire rail system is still intact on the property, also found out that the old coal dump area is still used for random scrap and rip rap.
Re: Coe Rail
The story I heard was that because of the lousy Michigan economy the star clipper went into receivership and was suppose to stop running December 31, 2008. One train was going to Traverse City and another out East. It had to do something with the taxes, but the owner decided to stay open for another year. It is scheduled to make it's last run Dec. 31, 2009. I have found a few articles online corroborating this.

This is the second reference to this term that I've heard in the last week. Prior to this, I'd never heard it before in my life. Is this the next trendy term to use?Mike Tabone wrote:...rip rap.

I hear rip rap back in the early 90s watching a moving on some UP main line. The narrator called the scrap ties plates rip rap as a crane was picking them up. So I dunno J to the T izzle

Rip rap is rock or broken concrete that is used as a soil erosion control measure. It's often used at the end of culverts or other spots with higher velocity runoff.
