I will post a rumor here to make up for it

Someone on a fb page for lake Orion claims they heard a train horn around Joslyn and Silverbell

A little clarification: when I saw the new piece of track I was traveling at about 5.....I mean 40 MPH over the bridge so it is different than what I posted

Speaking of Linda Lee Ln, over the past 3 years I have wanted to go up this road to see the abandoned yard, but the gate was always closed.

About a year ago every time I drove by, there was an Oakland County Sheriff parked up there.

Recently, I have not seen the gate closed, nor the Sheriff parked up there.

Pics of:
W. Silverbell @ Joslyn today, same intersection in 2023, a diagram of the new piece of track.

Things are being kicked into high gear now, exempt signs are gone on all of the crossings.

Apparently no train service until mid-2026. Or the next delay(s) after that. Detroit News 7/23/24: "General Motors Co. is again delaying the launch of electric truck production at its Orion Assembly plant, this time by six months to mid-2026, CEO Mary Barra told investors".

Detroit-Hamtramck electric truck output is adequate for the time being, notwithstanding the $4 billion in upgrades at Orion during the last 2 years. An expensive piece of building to let sit idle for too long.

Unless the section up near Collier Rd was restored there couldn't have been one there, not to mention the track is in such awful shape. I will be back there on Tuesday and will look closer.

Don't bother, Jeff Smith. The track is still severed by Collier Rd. The report of hearing horns @ Joslyn & Silverbell was made as a joke.

I stand corrected! Good call on the MoW equipment; I didn't think of those carrying train horns.

Thanks David Collins for the pic.

Where is this taken and what is "GTA 6"?

Definitely some indisputable evidence here that the branch is coming back to life!

It’s a joke amongst my generation, GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto 6) is a video game that has taken an eternity to be made so when something happens before anyone expected, we’ll say we got *insert something here* (tie gangs on the orion branch in the case) before GTA 6.

This was taken at the crossing just north of the Joslyn and Brown Road crossing. It’s not my photo but I will be enroute within the next 15 minutes with the drone to document this.

Forgive me for not reading back through the entire thread, but what does the CN Lake Orion Sub connect to? I can't tell on aerials.

CN and worker vehicles were stacked like cord wood, where trains hit the wye and execute the shove maneuver, heading toward the scrap yard. This was on the south side of Walton (Pontiac), east of Baldwin.
