IC Units

Unread post by GTWwatcher »

I recently saw an IC loco in a CN consist at Durand. It was in original IC colors and had the IC logo. The engine number was 1010. I read on another sight that there were only four engines like this left. Is that true?

I think there are 32 of these SD70's on the roster. Several are painted CN with IC sub lettering.

Google is a spectacular resource for yes no questions. Not a definite answer, but a little deduction can tell you that more than 4 exist.

On a side note, does it really matter how many are left as long as there is more than 1?

Are you asking if there are 4 ex-IC SD70's left, or if there are just 4 left in the IC Deathstar paint?

I'm asking how many are left in the IC Deathstar paint. Like I said, I read on another site that there were only supposed to be four units still painted in that paint scheme but I wondered if it was true. I'm just curious is all as I don't really see one of those every day.

It looks to me like they were all delivered in Death Star paint....
But I am no IC expert.
So there would be nothing else to look for except death star. And the link I posted said several have been painted CN. Given that there are 40 on the roster, it is fair to say that more than 4 are in death star.

They were.

Based on what I've seen, 1002, 1008, 1012, 1039 have been repainted. That's not to say that there's not something running around that I've missed, because I've missed a lot, but these are the only four I've personally photographed in the CN red/white/black. If you search the various railroad photo websites, you may find others in the CN colors too.

Are we just talking IC SD70s or ALL units still in IC paint? There are still plenty other units out there in IC paint; GP38-2s, GP40-2Rs, SD40-3s and so on...
