S Lumber Street Chicago
Is this street off limits? This is the one that goes by the Amtrak yard.

Here? Nah. I took this in late 2014. All within 15-20 mins.

There is a sign under the 18th street bridge that says going any further north is restricted, but I don't recall a guard shack. There is also Continental paper back there, so somehow private cars and trucks are allowed past the bridge.
Long story short, it's a cool place and well worth visiting.

What about the ramp to W Roosevelt? Could I walk down it or would that be trespassing? I saw a gate on streetview, but it was open and I couldn't read the sign on it.

There is a no trespassing sign for sure. I drove down it once years ago, but they were less touchy about that stuff back then. Thing is, you can't see much once you're down there. Only what's parked on the nearest track. The view from the bridge is much better.
