BNSF derailment on CSX, Riverdale, IL, 6/8/13.

N990 derailed in Riverdale IL yesterday. 8 cars were derailed, several of which tipped over sideways.
Here are some pictures I took.

Looks like a rail may have rolled.




Hulcher works to re-rail the cars. Looks like some coal was spilled.

I heard over my scanner that 8 cars had derailed..saw reports that 9 cars had derailed. Maybe 9 cars were involved by 8 actually left the rails.....the train left around 7pm CDT with what wasn't derailed.

Must be something about that spot, seems like they have a lot of coal train derailments right in that stretch between Dolton and the E/E Barr.

The 90 car balance from this train was spotted at Detroit Edison River Rouge in River Rouge, MI at 0010 on 6/11/13.

I keep looking at the photo with the railroad SUV in the right foreground and thinking how much the background looks like a model layout.

These photos were taken after dark. The photo with the SUV is a 30 second exposure with ISO 200.
You can see blue squiggly lines in the photos, these are lights on the helmets of the workers on the scene.
The photos of the bulldozer and derailed cars I took from the crossing are only a 2 or 3 second exposure.
