This morning on Virtual Railfan about 8:48am a merchandise train with 2 BNSF units went by the museum on track 3. Engines were past Prairie St. overpass and east of Main St. Came to a total stop. Sat for a long while and backed up into the yard
Assumed they had to wait for rear end protection to make the move. Well I've never in all my visits to Elkhart seen that maneuver. Any guesses or radio chatter to collaborate.

Re: Weird move in Elkhart
I have seen a few trains come out of the yard, stop and back up. I assume that they are either doubling the train or need extra headroom to push it over the hump.
