CF&E Customer List and Locomotive Roster

Unread post by NS3322 »

I spent some time today creating a customer list in the Railroadfan Wiki for the CF&E. How did I do?

I also need some help with a locomotive roster. Recent locomotive repaints and subsequent renumbering have made it hard to establish a full roster list.

In Bucyrus, National Lime is a CSX contract, not CFE or NS. At the merger CSX got it. Cars go to Wooster. CSX crews.

Two customers have sprung up in the Upper Sandusky area....The northern most grain elevator has been revamped after the old facility was demolished and the Andersons have taken up residence here. Two spurs that are at least half a mile long with blocks of hoppers that occupy them. Switched by CSX and also has been brisk business for CFE. Also over at the Old Walton Elevator near downtown, Starr Rail is now unloading roofing granules from hoppers.

How busy is the CF&E? Don't they really only run one train each direction along with some stuff from the Class 1's using trackage rights?

I am hearing rumors that the Chicago Fort Wayne and Eastern lease won't be extended when its 20 year term comes due next year.

If anyone wants to see it, its on the SEC website of all places.

Have you heard any reasoning behind it? Is CSX looking to take back over operation of the line?

Reading the lease, it appears that at the conclusion of the 20 years, the leasee has the option for 2 additional 5 year terms provided they are in good standing with the leasor. I wonder if CF&E isn't willing to continue paying the lease cost for this line ($1.7 million per year adjust upwards starting in 2005).

How much revenue traffic is running across this line on a daily basis?

I refreshed the CF&E customer list. I also added a former customers subsection. LSC Communications in Warsaw, IN closed over the summer and it appears OmniSource sold their Bourbon, IN facility to CT Polymers.
