Lagonda Junction near Springfield Ohio

Unread post by matt76 »

I'd like to catch a train going by the old tilt signal here sometime in the near future. My understanding is that the Indiana and Ohio owns both lines through here and was seeing if anyone knows the best time to catch a train here. Thanks for any info!!

Late afternoon has been a good time but I&O schedules have been off lately. I suggest asking this on the Indiana & Ohio Facebook group or one of the local railfan FB groups such as Miami Valley / Dayton Railroads.

During the week, and I believe most Saturdays you can find the Springfield local around in the mornings. The fairly new Cohen scrap yard just west of the diamond in the old NYC yard area stays busy with scrap from Topre America plant @ Lagonda. With GM able to supply Navistar with chips again, there's been a steady stream of frame loads showing up almost daily for the local to deliver.
