The Marlboro and Framingham Railroad

Unread post by Derektrainman03 »

The Marlboro and Framingham Railroad (Reporting marks M&FRR) is a abandoned railroad that was once a class three railroad. The railroad was created on November 14th, 1970 to give the two namesake towns more opportunities to do local business with rail serviced industries. By 1972, the M&F is already struggling to keep up with the demands of machinery which the railroad was known to carry at the time. The railroad was deteriorating very quickly as there was no MOW crew due to labor costs of the railroad’s practices. By 1976, the railroad was abandoned and the tracks were ripped up and were gone in the history books. However, there is a bright side to the story. Groups of railfanners and railroad historians that have been observing the M&F have created a railroad historical society to help people understand the rise and fall of the Marlboro and Framingham Railroad. The group goes to trains shows, and other train related events to inspire people to take part in the group. The railroad only had two locomotives and they were GP7us that came from the ATSF railroad. Today, nothing is left of the old M&F railroad.
