They seem to be treating us well, Definitely recommend them.

We are purchasing another 2 4 axle GE's; a B32-8 & B40-8 from NRE.
They will be numbered 5020/5022

We are in the process of renumbering our fleet to a new numbering system, Details are as follows:
WLAB 5000 -> 5000
WLAB 5001 -> 5002
WLAB 5002 -> 5004
WLAB 5003 -> 5006
WLAB 5004 -> 5008
WLAB 5005 -> 5010
WLAB 5006 -> 5012
WLAB 5007 -> 5014
WLAB 5008 -> 5016
WLAB 5009 -> 5018
NREX 580 -> WLAB 5020
NREX 563 -> WLAB 5022

It is tempting because both of those have good reputations, but I am sticking with EMD's.

WILLMAR & ABERDEEN 2024 UPDATE

*as of 1/1/2024:
'Willmar & Aberdeen' (WLAB) and 'Genesee & Wyoming' (GWI) have come to an agreement in which a sale of a minority stake (49%) will take place. In which, the WLAB will be recognized as a G&W Property while still managed by the original team of staff at WLAB. The agreement features an option to buy out an additional 26% of shares in 5 years; thus giving G&W an ownership stake. The sale does not include the 'Bay City Locomotive' division or any of its associated properties.

An internal memo was published to all staff assuring them that the recent agreement will not have any adverse impacts on operations and operating practices. The company believes this agreement is good for all parties and welcomes the new minority owners with open arms.

-------------

For railfans, This recent announcement has caused concern that the railroads unique roster of 4 axle GE's (some of which will in fallen flag paint schemes) might be going into G&W Cooperate orange, or even be retired.
