Crescent Valley Railroad

Unread post by Derektrainman03 »

The Crescent Valley railroad (Reporting Marks CVRR not to be confused with the Central Vermont railroad) is a regional railroad that was first established in 1991. The railroad started in March 9, 1991. The railroad had a unique rail line with the headquarters in Morrisville, VT. The rail lines go from Vermont to the northern most part in Massachusetts, then makes a U-turn to the southern parts of New Hampshire. The line was originally the Lawrence & Ontario's Valley division. By 1965, the line was in terrible shape with constant derailments like 2 per week. When the L&O abandoned the line a year later, the rails stayed in place for 25 years, by 1989, the NTSB, the ICC, and the FRA, with the help from the states governments of VT, NH, and MA, helped pave the way for the Crescent Valley railroad to become functional and set the standards to a class 2 railroad. By 1990, the rails were rehabbed and fully functional, giving the industry's old and new areas a new set of lungs. Finally, on March 9, 1991, the CVRR was born. At the start for power they had acquired two former CV U18Bs* numbers 1872 and 1995, they were the main horsepower of the railroad in its hay-day, until 2008. on October 20, 08', the CVRR U-Boat number 1872 struck a loaded log semi truck loaded with logs which caused the 1872 to have new parts on the front and a modified cab. But one month later sadly, the two U-Boats were both beat to age and were sent to Larry's truck and electric (LTEX) and on that same day, the CVRR Purchased two SD40-2s. They were ex FURX numbered 3041 and 3033. Both were repainted and also fixed up to the best of their ability. In 2014, The railroad purchased a MP15DC locomotive to handle the yards, industries, and smaller trains in the Vermont area, the locomotive is GATX numbered 9627, an ex Conrail locomotive, The locomotive still retains the Conrail blue but has replaced the GATX Logo and the number retains. The only difference is that the locomotive has the CVRR reporting marks. This railroad is currently in service today and is a "puppet railroad" of the MOXX Railway.

*The Central Vermont Never had U18Bs. This is just my alternate universe.
