The Grand Elk just went by the Elkhart VR cam at 9:41am heading towards the Elkhart yard with WAMX 4125 and WAMX 4209 leading 44 cars. A mix of box cars, covered hoppers, tank cars and four NS hoppers.

GRE east thru Ada at 10:44. First morning run I’ve seen in quite some time due to MOW curfews. Didn’t see if they had both 2104 and 2043 but it was a pretty long train of King loads.

Drove along Grand River Dr. Today. Saw no GRE train, but there are a lot of new ties along the track between Ada and Lowell.

Just crossed the Grand River (2:45) with 2 engines, MQT leading, both SHF. I counted 22 with 3 in front from AMWAY and/or PP. Seems like they would turn one of the locomotives around so they could run SHF both directions. But CSX would probably change them to use the “Y”.

No where to turn it, and all of their work is on the north side, so having the engines face west puts the engineer on the same side as the conductor working the ground.

The “Y” on CSX near Market and Wealthy would work, but require permission of some kind.

Saw the northbound Grand Elk earlier today. He was literally crawling along maybe 5-10 mph through Wayland and all the way through Moline. Anybody know what is up with that? Trackwork or speed restrictions???

I saw all 46 cars sitting on the farthest track away from the highway and closest to the engine house. 4 NS coke hoppers, quite a block of boxcars, tankers, covered hoppers and maybe a center beam

They don't have rights to go that far south on CSX, so, no where to turn it.

I didn’t see or hear Grand Elk head south from Grand Rapids from 4-8pm. Maybe a rare Saturday run?

Or on MQT, where it came from. But it is obviously their call.

I think we’ve determined that they don’t have anywhere to turn the engine nor possess the desire to turn an engine.

Went by the GRE yard yesterday. Still a long line of BNSF hoppers, back almost to Alpine. I thought they were the empties from King on Friday, but CSX did not take them, so
maybe they are loads. Lowell is full of hoppers this weekend.
