CSX Train Location Updates - April 2024

Some of you guys are probably too young to remember the boom years of 2013-2015, but we were running some absolutely massive trains up here back then. Q327, Q334 and Q335 were consistently over 200 cars. My record was 237 cars on Q335.

You are correct. I didn’t get trains in 2013-2015. Largest M327 I gotten was 198 cars (98 loads and 100 empties) with CM44AC rebuild and a SD70ACE. Largest L303s I gotten was 152 cars each on 06/10/22 and 06/14/22. Largest M326 was recently this year with 175 cars

While not a manifest, The longest train I ever caught was on October 30th, 2021 catching an E800 with 249 empty coal cars.

Head power on L302-06 was 5438 +7228. Being this detector is often one digit off, assume the count was 392 which would equal 95 cars minus the locomotives.. 5438 was also on L302 back on 2-15-24.

The largest double coal empties in 2021 was 260 cars. I was on it. They haven’t done it since then to my knowledge. The BN was not happy about it the few times we ran those that year. That MTO was not at Grand Rapids very long for other somewhat unrelated reasons. We had to cut that train apart at the old Forest Hill yard just outside of the current 59th Street yard because they wouldn’t take the whole thing on the BN in one piece.

R597-06 @ 00:32 copied their EC1 to depart the power plant in West Olive, Mi mp CGP 1.0 & diverge onto the Fremont sub-div & head south to the Grand Rapids sub-div in Holland, Mi with BNSF engine #9013 & 130 empty coal cars & rear dpu BNSF Executive engine #9786 & CSX engines #796 + #741. He had taken Grand Jct siding mp CG54 & tied down. He didn't have enough on duty time left to move out the C801-06 loaded coal train that had tied down in Wells siding mp CG41.4 last night.
