All three of them were on M397, but back early February 1st which I myself saw and reported here.

WB X491 is UP 2592 solo. As of 10:15 they are working Durand Yard. Haven’t seen CN this power short in MI in a while.

LansingRailfan, why would CN be "Power Short" again? Maybe they shouldn't have "Scrapped" all those Dash8/Cowls!!!! I think there are more in storage. Would they ever be considered to come back? I know we have IC "Blue Devil" C40-8W #2466 and BCOL "Cowl" C40-8M #4609 running somewhere on the CN system!!!!

Dude it is cheaper to lease power and run foreign power on certain rails. Like it's much cheaper to run UP and BNSF power on CN compared to keeping up with the costs maintenance of the cowls. Now CN may owe UP and BNSF horsepower hours but like I said much cheaper. Why do you think you're seeing so much BNSF power on NS in the last year or so? Cuz it's much cheaper than keeping up with the costs of keeping up with costs and maintenance of their older locomotives. The dash 8s and cowls have been around since the early 90s up until last year. They were so old. Had an amazing run too. We should be grateful they were around for as long as they were. We've seen many locomotives built in the 2000s and is scraped or stored or sold already. The railroad is a business not a nonprofit organization. CSXBOY! Thanx for the "Thornapple" video explaining about foreign power! Finally watched it! Now, my post mentioning that CN shouldn't have scrapped "Cowls" was just five days before "Dead Cowls" were on the way in MI!!!! Your reply just two days before! It was Wednesday April 19th when those "Dead Cowls" and various Dash 8s for "Scrap" came through on the Flint Sub. Now, there are some stored at Battle Creek yard! Some "Dead" units were reported going to Iowa for "Scrapping", including IC "Blue Devil" C40-8W #2462! How long will they be there? I don't think they'll come back to service ever again!!!!
