351 was ten minutes late departing Pontiac this morning.

Last night 354 left Chicago 3.5 hours late and arrived at Pontiac around 4:30 am.

This morning a SB Amtrak just crawled by MP 22.5 at 6:01 am. I figured it was 351 running a bit late again out of Pontiac but the Train Status showed 351 already in and out of Troy, the first station stop, on time? So either the Train Status is lying or there was a deadhead move following 351 out of Pontiac this morning.

train status was not correct....that was 351 ....they had ptc issues after getting by MAL Jct.....had to stop and re-initialize and since they were btw signals, had to run restricted speed til the 20 signal

Thanks, Buster. Is the slow order removed behind my house now? It seems Amtrak is running much faster back there these last few days.

NS B05 ran today with NS 7150/NS 4477/BNSF 41#2/NS 7149. They brought a 100-car grain empty for Cargill - Decatur, MI this afternoon from Burns Harbor, IN

09:00 - NS B19 at CP 9 with NS 4265 solo, holding for Amtrak 353

354 slightly delayed at Dearborn due to a drunk passenger of 5 Cutwater Peach Margaritas.

371 on time this morning cruising through the Salad Bowl. Venture coaches are back as of yesterday.

365 is in Service Disruption halfway between Niles and New Buffalo. A poster on the Facebook Amtrak Michigan Line Group wrote, “365 in Emergency outside New Buffalo just now. We struck a vehicle at the crossing. Person is still alive. I saw dirt fly by the window, but not the collision..”

That was posted at approximately 11:50am on 6-6-23.

As a result of the accident with 365-06, Amtrak has canceled 364-06 and 365-07.
No spare equipment Chicago?

Probably not Amtrak's fault for the accident but it shows just how fragile the system is right now. You would think 353 could drag 365 into Chicago and find a replacement engine in Chicago for 364 but I'm speculating from 250 miles away.

After the 14-hour sewage-in-the-aisles debacle last year, I would imagine they are loathe to rescue a disabled train with a healthy train. Probably why 353 is staying back at Niles Station, to keep options open. Also, 365 is on single track with a damaged engine on the west end. How damaged, I have no idea.
