'cause two engines needed turned....

the first loco was friday's engine from 350...and since no other train made it to PNT that night, there was no reason to call in a crew to turn a loco during a snowstorm, when it could wait until it was needed

#350 today out of Chicago 2'21" late. It can't be weather. No doubt #355 will be late as a result. 2'59" late at Dearborn. Not in Pontiac yet.

#355 running an hour late due to earlier #350 delay. Until things shake out, I think they should run 2 daily round trips only on the Wolverine Service. If equipment and staff allows, run regular 3 round trips during holiday periods. (Run 350/355 and 354/351)

350 had a Charger on each end this afternoon as it went by MP 22.5 on the Holly pretty much on time.

That Amfleet is properly known as a Cafe. There are no Amfleet Diners.

I've been noticing lately that some wolverines are running with both an engineer and conductor up front. I don't think I've seen this since the days before COVID, any reason why they're doing it now?

My guess is that you're actually seeing student engineers and/or road foreman riding up front. There have been lots of changes to how the Wolverines are staffed, so additional familiarization trips and new engineers are probably getting trained up.

For the shorter routes, Amtrak wants the Conductor acting also in a customer service capacity. The only routes with two people in the cab, by rule, AFAIK, are the long-distance crew districts over a certain length.

Amtrak 350 was 3.5 hours late arriving at Pontiac today. 355's departure hasn't happened yet. The website says "Service Disruption." There are a lot of Amtrak service disruptions posted on the website for today, including the Blue Water leaving Chicago, mostly for trains out of Chicago. One notice said "system wide communication problem" or something like that.

Via the Amtrak Alerts Twitter page (verified page), a lot of delays/cancellations were due to server problems. I'd think PTC had something to do with it. It's still going on even now as of this reply.

Hiawatha 332 + 333 were cancelled half an hour ago - ongoing server issues. Many more recent for the same deal and some without alternate transportation.

It doesn't seem like 351 or 353 have left Pontiac this morning. If their counterparts ever arrived yesterday evening. The website for their status is a bit confusing this morning, seeming to indicate that both trains left Pontiac on time but then showing a cancelation notice underneath. 353 should have gone by the house by now but nothing. Must be that "server" issue from yesterday.

And there is a Service Alert that 350 is going to be late departing Chicago again today do to "mechanical issues."

Train 350 was cancelled out of Chicago.

Here is what the Amtrak website states right now:

"Select Midwest Trains Canceled on Saturday Due to Ongoing Communication Issues
March 25, 2023 09:45 AM

Intermittent communications issues have resulted in cancellations of morning trains to and from Chicago. Customers have been notified. We are working to resolve these issues as soon as possible. Updates will be provided as available."

Poor Amtrak.

Last AMTK departure was 0715 today. Yard is considerably full.
