01:24 - L302-26 thru the WE of Trowbridge, 7788 and 406 leading 49 cars. By 01:40 "three step applied 7788" was about all that could be heard thru the static.
Exactly one year ago, CSX 406 was paired with 339 on a doomed D706. The latter engine (which was leading at the time) would suffer from low oil pressure, resulting in the train stalling on Ann Pere hill. The crew would double the train to the siding at Brighton where they would run out of time. The consist would sit in the siding for the next several days.
