JAIL worked Lansing last night. Picked up at CN and grabbed ten loaded coils for RSDC from CSX plus some boxcars.

Thursday they worked in Detroit during the day.

Heard the Hesr leave bad axe to run west about an HR ago, unknown power, they did take three covered hoppers that they had left yesterday at the co-op plant just south of town.

Did they head east two times on Wednesday? Saw them WB heading back to Ann street around 1:30pm on Wednesday.
Still south of Lowell with the headlight off. Most of the King hoppers appear to have been unloaded and parked elsewhere.

Small Ann Arbor RR industry update from Friday afternoon:

In Dundee, Clean Tech had at least 5 covered hoppers between their spur and the tail track next door. By the glow of the blue light special, it looked like GEMA had at least three of the big black tankcars near the main, still seems strange to me that they use the lead to a spur for trans load when the spur customer itself gets a fairly regular switch requiring constant rearrangement and the setting of hand brakes.

From US-23, it looked like more of the long, black tankcars were sitting in the Milan Yard.

Not a shortline by the usual definition, but a short-line in Michigan by mileage for sure, does anyone know how often NS grain trains go into the elevator on the Old Road at Ottawa Lake? Is that the only customer on what remains of that line?

AFAIK ADM is NS's only customer on the Ottawa Lake Branch. ADM is, at least by storage capacity, one of the three largest elevators in MI. MAC east of Breckenridge, after a recent expansion, might be larger now.

GRE has tied down for the night in Malta just south of Lowell. They didn’t run most of last week due to mechanical troubles.

I heard them go west a couple times today, I think. But I was painting and could not get out to see them. King has enough loaded hoppers in Lowell again for two trips.
