Re: CSX Train Location Updates - May 2022
The DD @ 20:38 at mp CG19.1 had only said "no defects, no defects, end of transmission". He was going too slow to be read correctly by the HBD equipment & I heard no calls from L301 regarding any issues.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - May 2022
Something started those fires along the tracks and there were a lot of them. I was standing next to the fire truck and I could hear radio chatter and I heard references made to a train a number of times.
I’m not a railroader so I would not know if a crew of a train would know if they had a bad journal box.
If the bad car was far enough back would they be able to see it? By the time a fire would start the train would be long gone so the crew would never know.
Maybe somebody out there could enlighten me.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - May 2022
When there were Cabooses, the crew was to look for any smoke or maybe smell it (thinking of dark conditions). Now that they're gone, it isn't likely the crew on the headend would be aware of any bearings having issues.GR H & C wrote: ↑Thu May 12, 2022 9:36 pmSomething started those fires along the tracks and there were a lot of them. Re: CSX Train Location Updates - May 2022
That would be correct. This afternoon, as L305 was sorting out their brake issues, GLC came south and put 12 cars in the transfer track. L305 did not take them further west. With L305 stuck on the main, L303 would take the siding, running around. GLC was warned of L303's approach and asked if their move (across the diamond and into the transfer) would interfere, they were told it wouldn't and shortly after were fouling the diamond by about three feet.
After GLC cleared up, and as L303 came by, L305 could be heard calling Howell then CH 56. After about half of L303 was out of the siding, they came to a complete stop for about twenty minutes, then proceeded east, not sure if they stalled or what.
Though it was mentioned a few times already, L305 had 8199 and 8016, L303 had 338 and 117, and GLC was using 382 and 386. Ironically, none of the issues at Ann Pere today were caused by signaling.
