Re: Shortline Train Location Updates April 2022
Came across the GDLK in Plainwell around 6:20PM. Nary a train in sight. Got out of the car around 5 to 10 minutes later, I can hear the horn. Not sure which way they're heading.
Still in town at 8:20PM.

JAIL with 1760/1751 NB (railroad west) on CSX trackage in Lansing with approx two dozen cars for CSX and CN.
There’s a handful of cars to pickup at CSX.

Grand elk south through Byron Center at 10:35pm. Two locos, and easily 150+ cars. Rolling slow, but took at least 7 minutes to clear.

JAIL in Mason at 08:15 with 1760, 15 cars and 1751 on the end. Looks like they will stop at RSDC first before continuing on to CSX, CN etc…

Re: Shortline Train Location Updates April 2022
JAIL with 1760/1751 working in Ensel. They left three cars in Ensel from NS that are for SB picks before going to CN to interchange. They then worked Padnos before heading to Ensel, dropping the CN cars, grabbing their NS cars on the head end followed by the CSX pickups and then the CN cars on the rear. 1760 is leading and both engines are elephant style, short hood forward.
They will work Ambassador steel on their way south and drop off two gons (from NS) of rebar.
Interestingly enough, when they worked on their tracks in Ensel sorting cars, they even used a bit of the Old Town Spur for head room.

Re: Shortline Train Location Updates April 2022
Welcome. So after I made my post, they departed power light. They disconnected from all of the cars and took off. Maybe they were short on hours and a night job will come up and do all of the work from Ensel back thru Mason tonight.

No prob. Really wanna get up there sometime and catch some of their moves. Of course at 10 mph once you find em it’s pretty easy to keep up.
This is a great map too. I think Nicholas Katz made it.

Re: Shortline Train Location Updates April 2022
It is my understanding the Bad Axe day job runs to Croswell once a week during the regular time (Sunday?) and twice a week (Sunday and Thursday?) during the sugar beet "Campaign" which begins around November and ends around April. All other movements are as-needed.

I was told it is approx 4.5 hours each way from Bad Axe to Croswell lol. Can you imagine the sweaters these crews can knit on those trains?AARR wrote: ↑Wed Apr 27, 2022 9:32 amIt is my understanding the Bad Axe day job runs to Croswell once a week during the regular time (Sunday?) and twice a week (Sunday and Thursday?) during the sugar beet "Campaign" which begins around November and ends around April.
