Shortline Train Location Updates March 2022

Grand Elk north through Byron Center at 10:25am. WAMX 4125, 4124, and 41 cars. Pretty early run for them..since I didn't see them yesterday, perhaps they made it a ways north yesterday and died, and just picked up from there today? Who knows.

Indiana Northeastern east bound with a single unit lhf and maybe a half dozen cats passed Briggs rd near quincy about 1027. Not sure if they're working sungro or not. I'll post a shaky video shortly

Marquette is switching at 7 mile Northbound in Comstock Park.

AARR went north with that grain empty for GLC today.

JAIL went down to Jackson last night and interchanged with NS. They grabbed their new loco and some cars. New loco is inside the shed in Mason.

NB 2-unit grain empty at Wixom w CSX 3359/CSX ####. G806-28 - Rocky Mount, NC to Wixom, MI - LSRC to HESR to Cooperative Elevator Co. Elkton, MI

Unknown on LSRC or HESR job symbols. Cars are lease/pool cars and not specific to CSX.

This train went by my house in Ansted, WV (Hawks Nest) as I was leaving to come north yesterday. It will return with 130 cars of chicken feed for Tyson in Rocky Mount, NC. Often different originating points, but the 130 car doubles are almost daily by me on the C&O New River sub.

No, we've split time between our homes in Mount Clemens and Hawks Nest for more than 30 years - with more and more time being spent down south these days. I love my Grand Trunk Western, but prefer the scenery and weather on the C&O down in the New River Gorge. This, all thanks to Ross Rowland, who enticed me with a visit to that region back in January 1985 with the C&O 614 coal train tests. It's been home ever since.

Thank you for UP updates. Seven cars usually indicates they made a pick up at the veneer plant west of Shingleton. I’m hoping WATCO will develop more business with this customer.

Grand Elk back south at 3:30pm, WAMX 4225 and WAMX 4125 I think trailing, about 15-20 cars. Really smoking it up heading south - nice to see them twice in a day.
