Re: CSX Location Updates - Oct 2021
RN Dispatcher had told Q326 Saugatuck is 5,400 feet long yet the 2008 time table says it's only 5,000 feet long. The DD at mp CG91.9 had reported Q326 as being 5,007 feet long, but the DD reports aren't always that accurate since the length they report varies from site to site. Changes with the train's speed as it travels thru the DD sites varies the length reported among other factors such as the proper spacing of the magnetic rail mounted transducers.trnwatcher wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 10:59 am10:58 EDT Q327 LEAVING WYOMING. Q326-16 @ 11:39 eastward reported by the DD mp CG44.2 with 352 axles & 4,948 ft. CSX engines #5409 + #5363 & 85 cars.

I’m currently sitting in the work truck watching how this unfolds at MP 33 which is the top of the hill, so it will be interesting. There is a green for whoever is lined on the main which I presume to be 327.
On a side note the building with the rail spur here at the top of the hill is for sale, so maybe we could see a new customer move in.

hi tom
from ett #1 april of 1969
east saugatuck is listed as 100 cars, same as michigan div ett 1 from jan 1977
from the ett #1 of 1969 - 100 cars of 50' length is 5000'
but as listed from the ett the following is added distance not listed as total siding footage:
320' for 4 engines and a crummy and 50' either side and the width of a roadway ( 136th ave crossing ) equals 130'
total distance from clearance point to clearance point would equal 5450' of siding
also from track profile booklet of jan 1960 for east saugatuck:
west end ps ( point of power switch ) is 6294+92
east end ps is 6358+18
total length of siding ps to ps is listed as 6326'

Green Oak DD at CH39.1 said 380 axles, 5629 feet. 92 cars, probably.

It appears that 326 met 327 at Wells, since the signal is lined for 326 on the main, not siding.

Re: CSX Location Updates - Oct 2021
D700's new schedule has them running 7 days a week but hasn't been happening every weekend. He's probably bringing cars from Grand Rapids to Waverly. Is he running with only that 1 engine?

Arrived in Grand Ledge just before 14:00 on siding. Detached then eventually after worker switched, units alone got onto main then started east.
I think they stopped on east side of grain cars. Went to check it out but didn't look like anything was going on and left from there.
