20:05 CT: P370 by Michigan City, 29 minutes late.

Don't worry, they still got a better deal than #354, which got nailed for 44 minutes by NS.

05:57 CT: Something just went by me on the CSX in Michigan City. Kinda sounded eastbound and it's a bit fast for E800-17 to be here - it usually takes about 45 minutes for freight between 91.9 and here at 124.0. I'm thinking it was an N800, and that there will be a meet at New Buffalo between the two.

It most likely was E800-17, the Dispatcher had called them & said instead of putting you in New Buffalo siding to wait for Amtrak (P371), give NS a shout at Porter & we'll keep you going.

Though most mile posts aren't a perfect mile (some are shorter & some are longer except for those designated in the time table for speedometer accuracy verifications), assuming the mile posts between 124 & 91.9 are perfect miles, E800-17 would have maintained a speed of about 44.8 mph.

So far at this time, nothing has been heard for a loaded coal train.

CSX changed their intermodal trains to an I### symbol. All numbers stayed the same.

Ha, that’s one way to make sure the NS doesn’t make you wait at Porter!

I thought it was possible but that’s still a decent time. Those empties do tend to have some speed to them that trains like Q327 do not.
