D706-23 eastbound through South Lyon at 22:10. No visual.

Green Oak DD at CH39.1 says 388 axles and 5637 feet. 94 cars probably.

Caught the tail end of a conversation between D706-23 and the RN Dispatcher. The dispatcher asked if they could make Beck Rd. The crew responded with a terse "negative."

D702-22 @ 10:49 eastward reported by DD mp CG19.1 with 176 axles & 2,442 ft. CSX engines #6244 + #2800 & 42 cars.
They were also in Zeeland earlier this morning, picking up 2 from Vanden Bosch setoff last week and setting off a lumber load at Zeeland Lumber.
Darn! I photographed those two cars sitting at VB on Saturday and wondered when they'd be going back out. I hadn't seen anything spotted there in a long time.
These were about their 12th and 13th cars of the year, if I didn't miss any. VdB gets some interesting covered hoppers in from time to time, and I try to keep track of their traffic since I only live a few blocks away. BN, CNW, CP Rail, there are some great fallen flags and road names that show up periodically. They tend to get several more loads heading in toward the winter, so I'll try to post if I see more set off there.

In the Y121 days, they would come to Zeeland several times a week to switch industries. Since Y121 was abolished and D702 began, while they regularly switch eastbound customers Zeeland Lumber and Plasticore on their tri-weekly trips to Wyoming Yard, they never seem to switch VdB on their westbound return trip; they always make a separate trip from Waverly to setoff and pickup there.

Thanks for the info, Nathan. Have you ever noticed any specific chatter on the scanner with the dispatcher regarding 702 going only to VB?

They'll be about 10 minutes late after Porter, though. Track inspector on Main 1 west of CP 482 has the Chicago Line bottlenecked, so they're staring at reds waiting on #350 to clear onto the Michigan Line.

The more things change….!

Thanks for this update. I assume D700 will “run long” to Hartford and far SW Michigan when needed. Will they also do all the Waverly transfer work again, allowing Q326/327 to just roll through Holland?

This is a little old now, but I just got back from work and I have no Internet access while on the job. At about 13:10 EDT, I heard a horn coming north along the Lincoln Secondary; I knew it wasn't the Glass Man, as I'd heard him head up about an hour earlier. I got to the Inkster Road crossing in time to see what appeared to be a Q150 headed north. Single CSXT engine, I was unable to see the number, followed by several container stacks.
