Q327-08 @ 08:24 westward reported by the DD mp CG44.2 with 552 axles & 7,310 feet. CSXT engines #5406 + #5243 & 135 cars. He had no work at Waverly/Holland.

D705-08 went west by Howell at 02:25 with only 14 cars. D708 on Monday had more than twice that many cars going both east and west, and they weren't the same cars. And yes, they turned the 901+982 set around again to keep 901 on the lead. D706-08 went east at 08:08 in slow speed with 5409+327 and only 41 cars themselves. Both trains getting mighty short again most every day. Time to go back to one train every other day six days a week once more. With the same power running every day, having one less train would not bother me any, especially with 705 running in the middle of the night. Don't sleep well as it is without having to get dressed and walk out to the tracks every night. Seeing the numbers from the house just doesn't cut it anymore with my eyesight, yet can't trust there wont be some additional power on.

D708-08 set out its entire 72 car train for GLC in the Howell pass, picked up 25 out of the transfer and currently on its way back to Lansing and going through Fowlerville at 16:35. They got their 4037 back after running with just the 8400 yesterday. Half of their set out were tank cars that were on D705 yesterday.

It’s been an exciting run for 370 tonight. First, there was waiting to see if they would have to stop and copy and EC1 for a false/partial near Kirk. Then they had a deer run into the side of the locomotive. Then they hit a rock someone put on the tracks (Engineer to Conductor, “remind me to check the sanders in GR.”). Then they had a near miss with a tow truck that was occupying a crossing for some reason but cleared after the lights activated.

Of course, the ONE TIME I don’t look east crossing the tracks on the way home from work, they would have been visible. Got out of my car at my apartment just south of the tracks to hear them approaching. Awe dang!
