Saturday's 351 must have had an ITCS failure or something else that limited maximum speed because it lost time between each station - particularly from Kalamazoo to Porter where it took 107 min to do the 97.3 miles.

Amtrak 353 was running on Main 2 out of Pontiac this morning at restricted speed through the work area, which is at Opdyke Road now replacing ties on Main 1. Looking at the Train Status for this train, it did not stop at Troy station, I guess because of not running on Main 1, but did at Royal Oak this morning. When I looked at 350's schedule the other day it was not stopping at either station because of running on Main 2.

Could be someone forgot that Royal Oak has the 3 wood "crosswalks" that allow 2 cars to be spotted for loading/unloading on Main 2?

352 has the beech grove private car on the rear, Head of the FRA riding on it. Wouldn't be surprised if the American view is on it either.

It was not. They don't run both cars together normally as there would be no access to the consist if both were on the same train.

Parking lights?? If you are referring to the red marker lights that are to signify the end of a train, some employees turn those on while the engine sits there, thinkin' it's a safety requirement...

Here's a sample of trains questionably delayed by NS between Porter and Chicago:
PERE MARQUETTE 371 by CP 482 8:04, arrived CHI 10:27 (due 9:08)
LAKE SHORE LIMITED 49 by CP 482 8:33, arrived CHI 10:42 (due 9:50)
WOLVERINE 351 by CP 482 9:21, arrived CHI 10:52 (due 10:47)
CAPITOL LIMITED 29 left South Bend at 8:07 ET and arrived CHI 10:14 CT (due 8:45 CT) (normally an 85-95 min trip)
BLUE WATER 365 left New Buffalo 11:38 ET and arrived CHI 12:39 CT (due 11:45 CT) (normally a 70-80 min trip)
With 482-CHI running time normally 50-60 min and considering normal times from SB and NBU, the first 4 trains should have been early or OT and 365 only a few min LT.
It should also be noted that 351 made its first OT departure from Kalamazoo in at least 1.5 yr, passed 482 5 min early, only to be tripped up on its final lap. So much for protecting a daily scheduled train's time slot.
WOLVERINE 353 left New Buffalo at 1:36 ET and arrived CHI 2:12 (due 2:32 CT), which indicates the congestion only affected morning trains.

The two ALC-42s, which had been testing out of Wilmington, DE, are headed to the Midwest for testing.
After they arrive in tomorrow's 29, a good bet is that they will run tests of ITCS and I-ETMS on the Michigan Line.
