Well "the usual" these days are Chargers; although there are still some P42s that can run on the line... and I think Amtrak has a B32 with the PTC system installed.

peter
All the P42s and B32s should be good on the PM. They don't need ITCS there. Just need PTC which they need to run as a leader anywhere now.

I don’t know what typical load factors look like on the Pere Marquette at this moment of travel, but I saw P370 arrive and depart from Holland tonight with the typical 3 Superliners, and they opened all 3 doors and at least 40 passengers stepped off. Departed 14 minutes late this evening due to congestion on NS near Porter.

Amtrak's new long distance Charger #300 is making it's way to DC. It leaves (left?) Emeryville today on the California Zephyr & is scheduled to arrive in Chicago on Monday. It has a press engagement in the Chicago yard on Tuesday, then Wednesday 6/16 it will head east on the Capitol Limited.

I've not made up my mind if I want to drive down to Toledo to see it Wednesday night or not.

Trains Magazine is reporting that Amtrak’s first delivery ALC-42 Charger #300 for long distance service is on the California Zephyr today heading east to Chicago. It will participate in a media event upon arrival (are other Heritage units gathering there for photos??) and then is expected to go east to DC on the Capitol Limited departing Chicago on June 16. Everybody head to Elkhart!

I doubt it'll meet up with the other heritage units (I think they're mainly hanging out on the east coast), but it might do something with the new Midwest cars of which there is a set in Chicago (the rest are in Beech Grove).

First time in over a year I see the train at Pontiac Station. Looks like it may depart soon.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Just seen an unusual move in New Buffalo. Did P351 and 352 get combined? A pair of elephant style chargers just went by WB with about a dozen Amfleets and they didn’t stop.

They are either staging a consist early for the new round trip scheduled to begin on 7/19, or maybe they are going to use it for crew qualification….ahead of the new round trip scheduled to begin 7/19. :D

yesterday's 351 (which didn't run) and today's 351 combined is what you saw....

before you ask, there was a problem that couldn't be fixed in PNT with yesterday's engine....
