Don't be fooled by the axel count when they got that far, Tom. D705 went west by Howell at 05:17 with 179 cars. The usual power with DPU after the 87th car, but they also had two additional units on the head end. With the snow and fog, I could not even tell if they were four axel or six axel but they were there. Perhaps they stole the two units off the empty grain train at Beck Road Plymouth so when the crew gets there to take it west, there wont be any power on it. 705 also, as expected, had those eight ash cars and a ton of loaded scrap ties for GLC that D706 yesterday took for a ride to Detroit. Those cars either should not have not been picked up, or if they were, sat off in Brighton.
Extra units were 8064 and 8350 - 2 six axle units.
This would have made the axle count for D705-30 from the DD at mp CH104.3 report to be either 672 axles (4 engines & 162 cars) or 676 axles (4 engines & 163 cars). The replay for the DD call in archives still couldn't pin the axle count. The 1st 2 digits were heard clearly (67_). As of 12:07pm, I haven't heard anything further from D705 since the DD104.3 call out. Getting a lot of weather radio calls interfering with the scanner today & maybe D705's calls were being stepped on since then.

Crew's on duty time may have ran out, too. As of 2:07pm, still nothing heard, and no yarding instructions from Rougemere heard either during all of this time.
D905-31 (recrewed D705-30) @ 5:49pm westward reported by the DD mp CH126.3 with 678 axles. Axle math doesn't work out for 4 six axle engines. And after re-checking the scanner archives for the DD at mp CH104.3 it does sound like it was reporting 678 axles, too, after hearing the DD126.3 to compare with. 3 six axle engines with 165 cars works out for 678 axles. CSXT #738 leading + CSXT #3211 as a DPU. Also, I am assuming D905 would have today's date (though he's only reporting as "D905").

Thanks for extra two units on D705 this morning, L.R.F. No signal calls on this train could be heard today, as they weren't on D706 yesterday. 738 usually has a weaker radio than 3211. I was actually in shock because the cars I counted matched the axle count over the DD at Fowlerville (except for the fact I could count the same the train ten times in a row and come up with a different total every time) It would however had have made a difference if the other two units seen were four or six axel. But it did match if all four units were six axel, which they were.

Would they have dropped off a 6 axle engine somewhere along the way? Maybe, we'll hear more info regarding what engines they have when they ask Rougemere for their yarding instructions.
D905 @ 6:25pm westward reported clear a pair Fox mp CH143.3
D905 @ 7:00pm at Plaster Creek asking Rougemere for instructions & then asked "what are we doing with the 4010?" So, that appears to be the 3rd engine for the DD math. But, what happened to the CSXT #8064 + CSXT #8350 that LansingRailFan made mention of earlier? [As a side note, the DD's 678 axle report would also work out to be 5 engines & 162 cars]

Maybe they dropped off both 8xxx units in Lansing and picked up 4010? Leaving Lansing w 3 units.

Well this was very close to passing October of 2020 in posts but did not make it. 2021 feels like it is flying by for me.
