Amtrak #49

Due to derailment west of Toledo, Ohio this morning there is a possibility that Amtrak #49 will be routed thru Michigan on the Michigan Central today.

Per a conductor on Amtrak #350:

Well. Surprise. We are dropping our rear locomotive on train 350 at the Dearborn Amtrak station and leaving it for Lakeshore 49, Michigan Line reroute today.

THink I heard 29 will be running the Michigan line also. about 4:30 pm per dispatcher.

29 was by before the derailment and already arrived in Chicago.

Ok things aren't adding up. There was a derailment yesterday on NS in Sewickley, PA; but this one is pretty much clear by now. Is there another one in OH today? Also all westbound Amtrak trains on Chicago Line have already gone thru today. #29 goes thru Toledo at 5:15AM and #49 at 6AM. If #29 got thru and #49 didn't then #350 is way to late to provide an engine for #49. Or are we talking about #29 & #49 tomorrow, in which both will probably have to be rerouted. Leading to a possible double again!

Edit; So I don't know what going on, but I do know that #49 is heading north into Michigan as we speak according to Amtrak's Status Maps. So go figure & get trackside (this probably also means she'll go past me while I'm at work

There was another derailment on the west side of Toledo as mentioned by the OP. This is the 49 that was to have arrived into CUS this morning that was already seriously delayed on CSX east of Cleveland. Today's 49 should not be detoured.

It appears Amtrak has removed the detoured #49 from their tracker. Last I saw it was by Grosse Isle.

49 headed west just on the Michigan line within the last 20 minutes, still a Dearborn. Amtrak worker also confirmed the 30 detour.

35 is coupling on the train 49 at Dearborn. Will be headed west shortly.
