Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020
To confirm, D706 is supposed to be Mon, Wed, Fri and D705 is supposed to be Tue, Thu, Sat.
These trains are GRP-based crews, so if D706 runs late to Detroit, D705 will be late coming back since it is the same crew, and they need to get their rest period in. Supposedly the call time for these was to be 01:00 ET but that was definitely off this week with departure times more like 13:00. We'll see.
Welcome to the board, Micah D - soon enough, you'll get the hang of tracking these movements. Just remember that most people will post their updates as they have them regardless of whether or not anything has been specifically asked for, so you won't need to ask about D705/706. Tom in particular is great at tracking the scanner, so chances are you'll know whenever D706 departs Grand Rapids, and a modest shot that a Plymouth member will post when D705 passes there.
At any rate, it may be handy to pick up a scanner for yourself if you can. I recommend (and use) a Uniden Bearcat BC125AT. That'll help you with knowing when trains are approaching trackside, and if you leave near enough to the tracks you might be able to have a 3-5 minute heads-up at least.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates, September 2020
Cleared the St Joseph Bridge at 09:21am. Q327's engineer was joking with the Bridge Tender saying not to blink because he wouldn't see them going by with just their 22 cars. A comment was made about having a DPU with just 22 cars & the engineer had replied they have to run in DP mode even if they just had 1 car (I'm wondering why CSX made that rule).georgehmanning wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 8:39 am@08:31:19am westbound Q327 CSX #987, 22 freight cars, then CSX #878 bringing up the rear arriving Bangor Michigan MP 60.35
