Y121 worked Zeeland eastbound a bit ago, then just ran to Hudsonville siding to run around their train and head back west, and just hit the Zeeland detector westbound with 12 axles. Normally, they bring their caboose along and shove either to or from Zeeland (depending on their work) protected by the conductor on the caboose. This is the 2nd or 3rd time recently where they’ve done the Hudsonville run around. Does anyone know why?

17:27 - L302 thru EE Brighton with 54 cars behind single engine 5234.
During the meet at South Lyon, "stop there at Webberville and pick up those units" was heard, I presume joking about L302's single engine.

Conductor preference. It might take less time to run to Hudsonville and run around than shove back to Waverly. Also depends on their next move. If they built the train to run around to go north, for example, then it makes more sense as well.

Speaking from experience, it's COLD to make the shove back from Zeeland in winter, even on a "nice" day like it was today. I wish I had run around at Hudsonville more often. Sometimes you just don't have the extra time to go east from Zeeland to make that move though.

Ok so do you or anyone else know the grain train symbol? 3389 leading, 3270 trailing.
