Sarnia, Ontario Switchers

I watched a video of the Canadian NationalSarnia engine house filmed recently. Seen were two or three end-cab switcher locomotives. One was yellow and black with a new cab, looked like and EMD. Another EMD was blue and white. What I thought was a third one was black. Any idea who owns these locomotives and why they were recently in Sarnia?

The yellow one is from the Essex Terminal Railway, which operates in/around Windsor. The blue and white one looks like it could belong to one of the refineries or other large RR customers near Sarnia. They're probably getting some sort of maintenance work done or are in transit. It's strange that the ETR unit would be up in Sarnia, unless that's where they do certain types of maintenance work.

Looks like ETL SW14 104. Likely in for maintenance work.

Thanks. Maybe Lambton Diesel services is using the CN engine house in Sarnia for some of its repairs? That all black switcher in the video might have been one of theirs.

ETRR had a previous 104, an SW8 that they purchased new in 1954 when they were dieselizing. They had their own roundhouse in Windsor and back through at least the 1980's did all their own locomotive maintenance there. Probably cheaper to farm out the maintenance now.

That appears to be the case. Lambton’s address is 120 Scott St. which is the address of the former CN roundhouse.

This is interesting because I have been noting a fair number of switcher locomotives dead in transit moves on CN triains through Michigan this past year (from the CN Board here) to Sarnia and now I think I know why and where they are going to. It seems that there is a renewed interested in the old EMD/GMD switcher models lately.
