Obvious ploy to make sure Congress gets Amtrak the funding they need to make it through the pandemic. Congress only responds to brinksmanship these days so I think the new CEO is playing their game perfectly.

Truthfully I’m surprised they didn’t try and do this SOONER in the year. It’s a shame really as Amtrak would have been closer than ever to a break even if things had not happened as they did. (I.e. no pandemic)

They didn’t cut frequencies yet because they have the funding. Congress already paid for full Amtrak service to Oct 1. After that, they haven’t. So that’s the whole question.Ypsi wrote:Cases still going up as we “open up”, my faith in this idea of “normalcy” that soon is very lowhoborich wrote:Things should be back to normal by October 1st.
