Slide Scanner Recommendations

Unread post by GTW Dude »

Does anyone have any new recommendations for scanning slides in 2022? I have a collection of original slides mostly Kodachrome’s I would like to digitize but I need help finding the right machine and would like to get the best quality I can out of them. Are there machines anyone here would recommend for railroad photos?

For slides or film a dedicated scanner vs. a flat bed. Take a look at Plustek seems to be rated well. I bought a Nikon Coolscan V a long time ago for about $500. User reviews rate it comparable to the Plustek.

I purchased a Plustek OpticFilm 8200i and I'm pretty happy with it. It was around $400.00

I purchased an Epson Perfection V500 Pro about twelve years ago and have scanned probably 10,000 Kodachrome slides and black & white negatives with it, if not more. It still works fine. It cost $100. Make sure whatever one you purchase is made for slides. Not all of them are.
