Motive Power Thread

After noticing all of the threads with people wanting to highlight the models they have on their layout I thought it would be a good idea to start a Motive power thread to host your photos, videos etc. I’ll start.

My newest acquisition is a Ken Kidder Brass Electric Box cab modeled after the C&LE (Cincinnati & Lake Erie) railway electric boxcabs. I have intentions to turn it into American Aggregates/C&LE 640 which was converted by American Aggregates corp. from electric to gas electric in the 1940’s and was used to switch gravel cars at their mining site at Oxford MI. It interchanged with the GTW on the Cass City subdivision using locomotives housed out of Pontiac. (including GTW 3734 AKA 4070) the trip was nicknamed “The Gravel Run” by crews. 640 survives today as one of the most intact C&LE Boxcabs at IRM housed indoors.

I would love to see a pic of that when you’re finished with it

My wallet screams at me for buying another brass locomotive but I think it was well worth it. A pro-paint CN U1F 6060 from PFM/Van Hobbies.

IIRC GTW had a handful of streamlined Northerns. But it seems there were a little different than this one.

The model pictured is a U1f class 4-8-2. CN and GTW both had U4 class 4-8-4s that were nearly identical.

The difference between CN U4A’s and GTW U4B’s is the GTW had a curved smokestack and disc pilot wheels while CN ones had a straight stack and spoked pilot wheels.

Just received this GTW F3 in the mail today. So happy I finally got one especially one from Intermountain. The back screw hole for the coupler looks stripped so I’ll have to fix that but the detail is crazy.

That is a nice looking engine. Based on the screen on the side of the hood it is from the first batch. The 2nd batch had grills.

Speaking of GTW U4B’s…

This just came in the mail after 4 years of searching. So unbelievably happy I was able to purchase one after all this time.

If I ever do plan to paint it, I’ll have it professionally done. I don’t think I could trust myself with a model like this lol.
