I use laptop power supplies myself and have had no problems. Just be sure you dcc booster's input voltage and amps are not over what it is rated for. Laptop ac adapters produce a nice filtered DC which works well for the DCC system. I use one for my Digitrax booster and command module and another for the NCE one with no problems. I think it was a rated output of 19 volt DC at 4 amps.

THANK YOU DAN,,
I have a Digtrax super cheif, 100,, I have 16v 5 amp Dell PS, that the computer died and thought it would work, ,
but can the power supply be larger than the db100, like 19v at 4.5 amp, or 16 v at 4 amps lots of those in the bargin bin at the computer store, do you use a cooling fan? I also have a Fisher Scientific, EMD 224,, (yeah emd) with both 24 ac and 24 dc at 5 amp and it is variable. 0-24 v, but cant find a manual to see if both work or only one side at a time.
dave jakubiec, trying to get this thing fired up,,

Best bet would be tech support at Digitrax for an exact answer.

For your model from Digitrax: http://www.digitrax.com/products/comman ... rs/dcs100/
Note: Accepts either 50/60 Hz AC or DC input from power supply (sold separately). Recommended power supply: Digitrax PS514 or equivalent. Maximum input 22 volts AC or 28 volts DC Minimum input 12 volts AC or 12 volts DC.
No I do not use a fan and have not needed one. Right now the layout room is still in dismay... no layout in over 6 years! With spring coming this year will be the start of the new layout in HO scale... long time waiting.
