Just a few notes:

1. The Shaftbergs are = Off-Line will be fixed once we complete the Durand rec. upgrade. (the 50ft tower is yet to be installed)

2. Holly and ponts south are = Off-Line (Steven is correct different freq.)

3. Imlay City is = Off-Line will be on-line when the Port Huron site goes in.

4. It has a lot to do with HAG (Height Above Ground) since everything is in the 900Mhz range and pointed at there rec.'s assotated basestation to get back to the DS network, for the area. you need to be close to if not in-line with the field transmitters to get good data from them. We are trying to have the rec. sites as close to the basestation for the area so we can pick up most if not all of the stations. Since its costing between $500 - $700 to install just one site. As far as how far-way from the tracks anything more then 1 - 1.5 miles is pushing it. But if you can say get over 60ft in the air then it might work.... Some of these Radio Code Line stations have yagi antenna's mounted only 6 - 8ft in the air (As in West Flint and Durand) so you have to get up there to hear them and higher you get your Antenna (yegi or omni) the better off you are. Right now We have a yagi installed at durand pointed at west flint and the poll cycle is about 90% - 95% of clean data. The Flint Site is about 85% clean so the over all loss is about 10% - 15% not bad I hope with the comming upgrades to get it down around 5% - 10% loss all the time.

here is a cost break down:

1 . PC = used Dell GX240 ($80.00 - $100.00 on ebay)
2. MDS-1000u radio (about 150.00 each)
3. Antenna's 8db Omni ($80.00 each)
a. 15db dish $100.00 ea. to get the distant sites. (Control points)
4. UPS's for the PC/Radio and PREM DSL/Cable connection ($100.00)
5. LMR-400 Coax to keep the loss low. ($80.00 for a 50ft with ends)
6. MA/COM PreAmp (If needed)

This is just, so everyone knows why we are picky on the rec. locations.

Every planned location has a Site Vist done by the group to see if it its a viable solution site.

As for Holly area i need someone close to the tracks just south of town and that has GREAT HAG do to the terian there. (hilly)

The areas are:

Flint - Done
Durand - Done
Port Huron
Battle Creek
Holly
Pontaic

IF anyone is interested in knowing were the Main Basestaiton is located to see if they can be a host site please contact me via PM on this forum.

I can't wait to see line ups from the tunnel to BC!!!! :)

Just an one last thing this might go as far as the South Bend Sub. I have few contacts down there that I am in talks with....

I joined Yahoo groups, joined the ATCS group and downloaded and installed. I have audio but no video. Are we supposed to see the diagram and lights ? I have none of that, just audio.

Did you Click the DS display via ATCS? Its listed under the "view" tab on the main screen. Also are you seeing data come in from the control points on your ATCSMon screen?

Where is this ATCS? I have clicked on many things but I have not found that one yet. I have the template for the video (AtCS MONITOR -ATCS-MON) but the screens are all white. I see nothing happening on the screen at all.

Hobojim,

I have been watching the server and I don't see any new connections, did you fallow the directions a few posts back on this thread? You should not have any audio just the stream of data to the ATCSMon program...

FYI:

Those that are watching the ATCS feed you will see the Port Huron data come in as I am sending the data back to the server...
This will bring up the over all error rate. You might see some control coming in for the imlays...

Okay, I must have missed an important detail somewhere along the way.

I have the program installed, MDAC in place, the .ini, .lay, and .mcp files in the correct subdirectories. I followed the steps in your helpful message above. But after I load the profile, I get the following series of messages on the message bar:

Not monitoring.

Monitoring (the dispatcher display pops up here)

rraudio.sbmrail.com:4800 Error 10061. Connection is forcefully rejected.

What should be in the Network Connections list on the Options > Data Source tab?

Mine is showing:

Server Mode Listener Port 4800
www.atcmon.com Port 4800 MCP
www.atcmon.com Port 4801 BCP
canyon.homeip.com Port 4801 MCP

What is the server and port for the Durand feed?

(I have no trouble with the audio feeds from rraudio.sbmrail.com.)

Sounds like you missed the same step I did. Once I went to File, Load Profile and selected CN Flint-Holly Subdivision.ini everything worked.

I wish it were so, but it has to be something else. Loading the profile is what starts the "Not monitoring - Monitoring - Connection rejected" sequence.

It looks like the issue is with loading of the profile becuse you should have.

There is room for 25 users and the most that has ever been connected is 13 users at one time....

rraudio.sbmrail.com:4895

Questions:

Did you ATCS Windows change to black?

I am going to Dinner and will be back On-Line latter tonight....

You might want to "re-download" the kit incase something happened to the *.ini file...

This is pretty sweet, I sat and watched one train come down the holly last night and one work in Durand and one head east on the Flint Sub. At the same time I had the audio feed going which is cool. Neat stuff...

Too bad I'm not 10-15 min. north of where we live now or I'd gladly let you put up the tower.

I can't offer any direct help, but maybe an idea. The Karl Richter Campus school is on the south side of town and a couple of blocks from the tracks. Maybe they would be open to hosting the equipment and could roll it in to a science or computer course/project for students...

Do you have any inside contacts? It could be a great RF/Computer project...
