Amtrak doing away with LED Signs on SC44's?

It appears that Amtrak maybe ditching the LED station/route name sign on the front of the SC44's. I've seen some videos with the signs blocked, I hadn't seen any chargers with the sign covered (in person) until this morning, with 353's leader having some sort of black material covering the sign. Does anyone know anything about this?
