SOO 4413

Unread post by Robertrains »

OK, is SOO GP38-2 #4413 still on CP's roster? I looked at "Heritage Units" and a report (by GreatWisconsinSpotte) from 5-8-22 says: "SOO 4413 is being sold off to a new owner." It was in a consist of 5 units spotted in Wauwatosa, WI headed to Rochelle, IL! Now, the engine is not gone! It has been spotted September 24 (by PAUL M), Calgary, AB! It was "just sitting in the yard." To me it looks like it wasn't sold off! Does anyone know more? :?:

There are not many SOO engines running on CP now! "Heritage Units" only lists five GP38-2s still in SOO colors!! They are SOO 4402, 4410, 4412, 4413, 4448!!!! :!:

SD80MAC, who bought SOO 4413? Is it in British Columbia? I never saw reports of which RR bought it! Man, not many SOO engines remain! This would give just four in SOO colors left on CP!!!! OK, there are two SD60s for CEFX in SOO paint, 6007 and 6020! CEFX 6020 is still stored at LSRC Saginaw Yard! I have photographed that one on LSRC with restored SOO paint/lettering! I just did a trip (July 6-10, 2022) to Illinois/Iowa with "Mazon!!!!" I photographed SOO 4448 Sitting in CP Nahant Yard, Davenport, IA! I wish we would have seen them switching, but instead caught lots of other good stuff (trip report eventually)!!!!

Take a look at my (RLJ II) picture of SOO SD60 #6033, on a westbound CP train, switching cars at NS Oakwood Yard, Melvindale, MI, October 1, 2011 (Mamiya Medium Format film camera): Image

Odds are, they were sold to LTE or another scrapper. These units are well loved and I don't think anyone would want them. Also, don't get all of your information from heritageunits, the website has a lot of bogus info, and quite frankly, I don't trust any report on there, no matter how credible the person is.

True I have seen "Bogus" reports from "Heritage Units!" I use the site in hopes of finding unusual and old engines working; it has helped me many times!!!! No one should be "Bogus!!!!" Well, if SOO 4413 was sold, that would leave only four SOO painted engines (GP38-2) left on CP (listed in first post above)!!!! There are many former SOO engines still working at least! It will be sad when SOO finally bites the dust! At least there are preserved engines!
