Sorry, asking here, because this is a smart bunch.
How many gallons do these Class I road engines carry. What are their fuel tank capacities. Varies by GE, EMD etc, so what would be some values? At $4.90/gal, a load of fuel is now much higher. What is the cost of a full load of fuel?
admin edit: moved this from the CSX update thread to a new topic.

Re: CSX Train Location Updates - March 2022
Not sure what the current cost of off-road diesel is, but it's probably not cheap. Most big road engines hold 3,000-5,000 gallons, 4 axle engines generally hold 2,000-3,000 gallons.train91 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 5:18 pmSorry, asking here, because this is a smart bunch.

Re: Locomotive Tank Capacity
Railroads (like airlines) negotiate fuel prices & futures and lock in a rate for a set time period.
