A Brandt road-rail truck comes by pulling a welded rail train. Yes, a 1/4 mile long loaded rail train.
I'm going what the ____. How is that possible?
Well it wasn't. There were 2 locomotives at the rear.

The truck was being used to protect the rear on the shoving move. Seemed also to be equipped to help with the unloading of rail.

Was there a buffer car between the rail and the Brandt truck?

No, this is what it is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coRoJI8xnlo&app=desktop
First car after is a standard rail bunk.
No buffer at the engine end either. The crew was not occupying the unit next to the rail.
