I am sure this is in the paint changes, but CSXT 4831 the first ACe has been repainted seen it at Willard. Also not sure if AMP in Rome, NY does painting for CSX but I had CSXT 683 still in YN2 but Dead in Tow going to AMP on Q36401. Also seen CSXT 3032 delivered to Collinwood two days ago.

4831 would not be included in the paint changes because it was in YN3 paint to begin with. A coincidence though, as 4834 (so they said) was just spotted at Barr Yard in the last 24 hours in fresh paint too. I was told that AMP in Rome, NY, does not paint there, even though I have seen several photos from there as brand new (to me) repaints. When I inquired they told me they were painted by CSX befor they went there. Several others were painted (8788 to name one) before they went to Albia Iowa at a contract shop there. Go figure, CSX has time to paint them, but not do the work on them.

Bob M., do you post the repainted engines from your recent paint stats anywhere? I would love to see them.

Bob,When were 8710 and 8585 painted? I saw them trailing on Q382 last week. Both looked clean and had white paper covering the windows.

Dont know where they were painted, but they are the newest two to go into the dead line at Collinwood, with in the past week. Joining the 8634 just a few days ahead of them.

8710 was painted in the fall of 2011, 8585 long before that unless it has had a second coat of paint. Both units were recently returned from contract repair work in Albia Iowa. I think its Relco out there? They have been in Albia for six months or longer.

With the confirmed repainting of GP15T 1518 into YN3 (no railcar logo) and the very last YN1 GP15T left, SD40-2 8404 is now officially the very last unit operating in YN1 paint. GP38-2 2519 remains at Huntington in YN1, but expected to be painted before it leaves, while SD40-2 8318, also in YN1 and at Huntington contines to show retired by the mechanical department, but still remains listed on Umler.

Have a ton of new paint discoveries to report since my last update on June 3rd, which drasically changes the paint stats around, despite the fact only 134 locomotives have changed paint schemes in 2012, lowest in years. Conrail painted SD40-2 8865 still sits stored at Huntington.

The latest four SD40-2 to SD40-3 rebuilds that many call sponge bob square pants units have come from these:

4044 the former 8079
4045 the former 8087
4046 the former 8122
4047 the former 8034.

Only two more to go to complete the rebuilds for 2012. Unknown yet how many will be done in 2013.

Will 8865 ever run in blue again? I doubt it but I thought I'd ask.

CSX 8404 was seen today in Cincinnati in fresh YN3 with the Boxcar logo. This, I believe, was the last running YN1 locomotive, as well as the first SD40-2 with a Boxcar logo.

Add CSXT 662 to the YN3 Boxcar list. Kinda looks good on a AC6000

384 also has the boxcar logo and 681 will probably follow as it sat outside the Waycross paint shop as 384 came out. With SD40-3 rebuilds 4040-4045 also having them, the current count of "repaints" is now up to 10. I am guessing the new paint shop at Waycross is now open for business as new boxcar logo repaints have been coming out left and right from there recently yet the only thing known from Huntington other than the SD40-3 rebuilds was 4719.

Edit: 7903 has now also been painted at WX.

Hey don't give up hope. I'm sure 8865 will run in blue again. It'll just be darker and with brackets and 2 dots with yellow lettering.

Also, I suppose since there's only 1 YN1 left (2519) and 1 Conrail left (8865), should we count down the remaining YN2s? I'm at 1168 on my list (967 GE and 201 EMD). Also, anyone wanna take bets on which paint will disappear first? Conrail or YN1? I'm bettin YN1. Also if 8865 gets released, it'll be the only engine to be repainted from Conrail to YN3b on CSX.

Your stats above has finally prompted me to do my paperwork today. I have made 43 paint changes this afternoon, all discovered since 9-1-12. 2 were YN1 to YN3 changes, (1518 & 8404) 41 were YN2 to YN3 changes. In addition, on 9-1-12, I made 29 paint changes, discovered since 6-1-12, all YN2 to YN3 which I don't believe I have reported on this link yet.

With todays changes, I am now showing, in addition to the one CR and one YN1 unit remaining, 1,141 units remaining in YN2, and 3,025 units now in YN3 (including those with railcar HTM logo's. Of the 1,141 YN2 units remaining, I show 953 are GE, and 188 EMD.

YN2 to YN3 paint changes made today, in numerical order, all verified by photo are:

12, 41, 201, 250, 384, 432, 620, 662, 1538, 2313, 4572, 5934, 5940, 5949, 6026, 6244, 6410, 7320, 7501,7526,7568,

7658,7684, 7730,7743,7775, 7806,7830, 7903, 7906, 8034 to SD40-3 rebuild 4047, 8079 to SD40-3 rebuild 4044,

8087 to SD40-3 rebuild 4045, 8140, 8467, 8586, 8642, 8708, 8870, 9050.

Just in case I did not post my 9-1-12 paint changes, (all YN2 to YN3) those included:

3, 72, 106, 107,304, 417, 419, 447,489,492, 538, 678, 2203, 2736,278, 2808, 4699, 6467, 7364, 7536, 7728, 7853,

8106, 8226, 8453, 8513, 8534, 8638, 9010

Of these, I am still searching for a photo of 2768 and 8638 to verify the reported painting if anyone can help.

I can almost guarantee you that the 8865 will never see road service again.
