Add WC 3025, DM&IR 207 and DM&IR 223 to the retired list, and add WC 7637 and DM&IR 419 to the scrapped list. With WC 7637 being scrapped, that means the WC SD45s have officially been wiped off CN's roster completely.

I can now confirm WC 7637 is gone. I went by Homewood today and all that looked to be left was the trucks. Many engines at Homewood are now lettered PRLX including several CN GP9Rms, CN SD40-2Ws, along with DM&IR 209, DM&IR 418 and WC 3005. I don't know if this company is a leasing company but considering PRLX is spray painted on them I don't think any of those engines have a very good future.

CN is now scrapping engines that weren't sold in the last auction. BC Rail RS18s 607 and 610 are now history, and 4 DM&IR engines, 869, 411, 202 and 417 are now in the same line by the shops, so don't be shocked if those are scrapped. The ex-GCFX SD40-3s are still stored, as are more DM&IR, WC and BC Rail engines. WC 3025 is now retired as well and is in the deadline. All the engines that were lettered PRLX have been shipped out.

LSRC wrote:Honestly, I don't see why the CN would scrap units if they still run? Could someone please shed some light as to why? I just don't get it. If it runs, why scrap it?
Because it may run, but had problems in the past that will creep up again. Or it could be running poorly needs total rebuild, could be a number of things. They might not meet emmsion standards anymore who knows. I can bet that a few of these will make it to a shortline that's under powered.

Two more BCOL RS18s are in the deadline at Homewood, and DM&IR SD38-2s 203, 206 and 869 as well as WC 2500 have been purchased by NREX. Expect the DM&IR engines to go to Dixmoor while WC 2500 goes to Silvis.

Wow...after all the units CN had been retiring in the past year, I'm kinda surprised that they arn't power short. Wow...all these perfectly good units going to waste. CN sure doesn't listen to the old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix (retire) it."

Rumors has it NRE has already sold 2 of the 3 DM&IR engines that they just purchased, but I'm not sure who they will go to. I also don't know which ones were purchased, but it would be two of these, 203. 206 and 869 which is still in B&LE paint. They are also moving the former GCFX SD40-3s to another deadline.
