CP Missing?

Unless I am mistaken, the 2018 Illinois Rail Map is missing the CP (DM&E/IC&E) line from Elgin to Savanna. The west end was there last year when I was in Savanna last fall.

Re: CN White Pine Branch

Just went through that area myself. I was very annoyed to see the "EXEMPT" signs. That being said, I know the folks that are building the biofuel plant want a connection west. IIRC, one of the previous roadblocks was the stretch through the Bad River Indian Reservation. The tribe had concerns about ...

Re: CN Updates- August 2019

Meant to post this last night. L550 (I assume) crossed the bridge at Sault Ste. Marie at 9:45PM. Consist of 96 cars per radio traffic. Mixture of presumably empty hoppers, coil steel (one of the cars was actually labelled "COIL CAR"), what looked like steel plates on flat cars, and some gons loaded ...

Re: Amtrak July 2019

Train 353 is canceled today per the Amtrak website. Anyone know the reason? Summer track repair schedule like in past years? When I went through Galesburg this morning, the signal was Red for eastbound, and there was a bunch of MOW equipment ion the track in town. They've had rail laying alongside ...

Saw this looking out the window of the Old Mill restaurant in Plainwell. The Elk dropped three or four in Plainwell, and took two to Otsego.

I though NS handled the freight on the AML west of Kalamazoo. Was I mistaken?

Decatur and Lawton are technically on the Amtrak Michigan Line (served by NS) so they might not be included on this list.
The shippers on the AML east of Kalamazoo were included. I think there are a few more farther west of Decatur.

Thanks. It might have been ballast, but it was imported ballast. Unless somebody else needed a load of aggregate. In the old days it could have come across the lake.

Re: GDLK Operations

There were 5 or so box cars on the Otsego line this evening waiting for the southbound to pick them up. That's not unusual. What was real unusual was an open hopper. I'm not well versed in hopper to know what kind. I made note of the reporting mark and number. Can someone who has access to such inf...

Re: Potash plant

The Elk has been tied down in Plainwell pointing south all weekend (at least it was judging by the HOT data bursts). I drove by about 5:30 and there are several, by which I mean 6 to 8 or so POTX and MOCX hoppers. Exact count not certain because I didn't want to walk back to the ROW and there were s...

Try doing a Google search, make sure you specify Grand Rapids, and then click on images. There seem to be several sites.

OK, so it is April 1. LSRC prez. said big expansion plans are in the works. Maybe they will running at least to GR. We know CSX has (or had) the old PM lines up for sale.

Re: Affordable Scanners, the Good and the Bad

Does anything new even have a RadioShack label anymore?. If you are going to Chesterton consider getting a ham license and using a 2-way hand held as a scanner. I don't know how tightly they enforce the Indiana scanner law, but that would help in case they do.

I love these "Where is it" things Crow T Robot comes up with. Fmilhaupt is right. Definitely Taylor.
