Re: CN buys CSX Line to New York
Woodard, New York, and the end of the new CN track to be precise, is just off of Interstate-81, in a prime location for an intermodal terminal that can easily serve Albany, Binghamton, Rochester, and even points around New York City. The haul length is likely adequate to bring in containers from Hal...

Re: Alexis, Oh traffic question
Which trains are 384/385? Are these the CN trains from Flat Rock to Toledo and onto Bellevue? I'm a little surprised NS would use this connector as the interchange between them and the AA for autoracks. I would have through they would have simply run the cars over the TT line to Ottawa Yard, or don...

Re: Alexis, Oh traffic question
It gets used daily by the 384/385 freights. NS also sometimes interchanges cuts of auto racks for the Jeep plant on that connector. I've seen the NS stop just south and cut off twice in the last couple of months. Once AA pulled it through the interchange and backed it all the way to Ottawa Yard. The...

Re: AA Railroad Interchange in Toledo
The interchange track running south out of CN Lang Yard is quite active. When I was there last Thursday, CN was backing a rather large cut of empty auto racks onto that transfer track. AA also has trackage rights across the NS owned bridge over the Maumee, near the intersection of Albany and Summit....

Re: Railroads around Nashville & Mt Vernon, Il
The Evansville and Western goes through Nashville, though I'm not really certain how much traffic you can expect to see or what time of the day it might run. My guess would be 2-4 trains total on any given day. Nearby Centralia has each of CN, NS, and BNSF running through there, with the CN line hos...

Re: Wolverine to Toronto?
Why not run it up the MtClemens sub to Port Huron and Sarnia? It would avoid the headache of Windsor as the tracks are aligned. No new connections would be required, though a modification to the station in Port Huron would be required unless the train was backed in or out of the current spur.

Re: Derailment in Swanton
Unless they can prove criminal intent with her parking the vehicle on the tracks the NS will have to swallow all the cost of the derailment but the NS could charge her with train delay fee. Criminal intent is not a requirement in civil action. She can be sued. I'm quite certain NS is looking into h...

Since they can't run double stacks through the Detroit River tunnel, where would the reroute of 148 and 149 go? Buffalo and across CSX?

Re: Train vs Bicycle - Guess who won
It said in the article that the train was only going 15 mph. Is there something to switch in that area, or is there a passing siding near by? I'm surprised that the train would be going that slow. The cyclist is fortunate. If that train was going track speed, he would probably have been a stain on t...

Re: City rules derail Plymouth museum's plans to buy a caboo
Unless the caboose is maintained in an operational state.....and.... the caboose is parked on a spur which can access the CSX system, then it is a building, instead of a vehicle.Standard Railfan wrote:I am wondering why the city of Plymouth would consider a vehicle a building.
