The facility has been there a number of years. When the line was resignalled and Herzog ballast hoppers when rail trains were pulled by Amtrak GE's. Always construction equipment there crews had an office inside and they just fenced it in. Not the black fence but chain link.

Does anybody know why this location is totally closed now? All equipment has been moved out . Of course the depot is not affected unless the club in that might be expanding?

Wasn't East Jordan Foundry going to build and use rail in Elmira? Wouldn't have to ship then to the transload on CSX west of Lansing?

Hopefully they stay put. I see GT 5825 was on the Trout Lake turn to Newberry. Come June 1st I assume Watco engines will be up north.

The only other freight NS peddles are Herzog ballast trains for Amtrak. I've caught those under the old coaling tower in Michigan City and parked in Lawton or Decatur.

Another reason Elk road trains are shorter all empties from GR go to CN at Kilgore then to BC. This has been going on for a while. Got to have a plan B when.NS says no more trains to Gearhart. How will new Graphic Packaging plant will affect traffic patterns? Will they ship by rail both ways or one ...

As of late even the yard slugs are coming past the depot to pull longer cuts out. That does block a main for a while.

Grand Elk will purchase the Munising and White Pine subs and FOXY another Watco subsidiary purchases the rest from what I'm told. It'll be interesting but at least the paper mill in Munising will still have service.

Seems I recall couple years back Grand Elk had a scale test car going back to Elkhart on road train. How many scales are on the Elk that need testing 1 track?

She made it to Valparaiso yesterday. CF&E 2135 let her run at track speed on the Ex'PRR and she just seem to float thru those small Indiana towns. Old US-30 follows along side most of the way so the chase was good and we got her secured.

CF&E will forward car Tuesday west to Valparaiso.

N&W 300 on CSX J78215 from Queensgate to Lima. Arrival there around noon. Our President Brian is there to keep her moving.

J792 use Tobe the Cincinnati to Lima Ohio not sure anymore. CF&E takes it to Valparaiso from Lima.

RPCX 300 Q404 to Selkirk tomorrow, Q561 to Cincinnati next day and I believe J792 the following day to Lima Ohio. Then CF&E takes it to Valparaiso.

Car 300 picked up at Bennett Levin warehouse today in Philly and forwarded to Selkirk.

Conrail crew called for 0800 tomorrow to put 300 on Q404 to Selkirk. She will be on the move.

Glad to see something work. Fresh solutions hasn't generated much for Grand Elk, CSX Cold Express has never got started from Tampa to Kingsbury In. Railroads have a lot to offer if they could just work it out.

M-live has announced that the Lake Michigan Carferry operation has been purchased. Sale does include the Tug/Barge vessel also. New company will preserve the history and continue the cross lake service.

Can't confirm but 1 track mind migjt know. I heard Ox which has the plant in Constantine just 5 miles away from this one did purchase it. Don't know how many jobs it saved?
