Then take it to a scrapyard, that has been told by the RR P.D. that they are being watched, and they happily take it. No questions asked! It's kinda funny the the scrap yard is also...

The Bomber ( B-58 ) crew is one of the local dog catchers the NS uses the recrew trains . Thanks for the...

Don, I am glad that you are all right. This is indeed a strange world ! You can railfan in some of the not-so-nice areas without as much as a passing glance from people. But, get dressed up in a downtown area and people want to mug you !

A lot of the work at Sterling yard is on a timed switch to keep the plants working ( i.e. not shutting down the lines ). Yes, the work at Sterling yard is down ( WAY DOWN ! ) but still the customers ( whats left ) still need to be switched on time & when the cars arrive. There are still 10 customers...

Your a lot safer parking by St.Marys. Street parking, is not a good idea, with the way the locals and the BIG trucks drive around there. I was just there today with no problem, except the pile of melting snow. Seen CSX PD, NS PD, INS, DPD, MSP and no one gave me a second glance. They are use to seei...

How much would you pay for............

What would be the most you would pay for a railroad collectable? I've been watching a couple of slides on e-bay, one was a Detroit Terminal caboose ( ended over $200.00) and another the Altoona.PA temp depot ( currently at $99.00 ). Just how much would YOU pay ? Don't be shy, we won't tell your bett...

Two things might be able to explain the picture. 1 - It may have been taken on a heavy & cold day. 2 - On occasion the Utica plant was loaned power while their engine was down. When the weather was cold and they had a big train, it takes forever to get the air to come up. Two compressors are better ...

There was along passing track / siding that ran from 18 mile road to about 600' south of M-59. When Conrail started to remove all unused & little used track, the switch was removed and replaced just about 100' south of M-59. The siding between 18 mile road and the 1st crossing south of m-59 has been...
