Re: NS Peavine talk
Scraphauler don't you find this strange that NS who owns this line and has a discontinuance on this section of the rail wants to keep it knowing that it will never be used. According to one on the farmers I talked to last week they said NS has been contacted by a company that wanted to open up a bun...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Question are the rails from Jay Bird to Portsmouth been classified by NS as Abandoned or Out of Service? If abandoned NS has the right to sell the property to township of the counties up that way for walking trails etc. Why is NS holding on to the property? From what I have heard from locals out tha...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Today I took the SUV went out to Rarden Ohio to look at the Peavine tracks. Never been out that way before kind of a nasty day so nothing to do at home took the dog and went for a long ride. Noticed the CCET has plenty of cars stored out that way. When I got to Rarden (a very small town) I see there...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Well you guys know more than I about the logistics on the eastern side of the line. I haven;t been up that way in years. I have seen some you tube videos of the tracks up that way some look okay while others look like they need some help. The bridge looks fine to me but not sure how stable the bridg...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Maybe not now but if a major company decided to build a headquarters out that way and needed rail transportation and the closest point would be Portsmouth then I can see that happening. Land out that way isn't that expensive as it is down this way. I'm sure any county out that way would love to clos...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Very negative. Years ago many said it would only go to Mt. Orab now the line goes out 78 miles. Never say never as anything is possible!

Re: NS Peavine talk
Do they get more for storage on boxcars than they do for tankers. I have seen hoppers on the siding of late think the last time i was up that way hoppers were sitting on the tracks up there. Great that the CCET is getting more business on storage that keeps the business making money. They have done ...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Was up in Mt. Orab today at the dentist and noticed on the siding at Batavia the CCET has a line of boxcars maybe as many as 30 sitting there. They must have a contract with a company to store boxcars. First I have seen that before. Tankers yes many times never boxcars.

Re: NS Peavine talk
Correct on the old Penn line, and the siding, inside Clare and rail going over the rail trestle. Looks like they were looking at the rails coming into the yard more than anything. Correct some tankers are in the yard but the Ag is hauling far more grain this year than in the past.

Re: NS Peavine talk
Was down at McDonalds on Wooster NS crew came in again today. They had a bunch of tankers setting off on the side rails that need to go east along with grain cars plus picking up some grain cars to take to Sharon Yard. New guy on NS riding along today. He said that the CCET has a really good busines...

Thanks I was up north on the other side of Loveland and noticed that the pole signals were out but not bagged so thought either there was power issue or they were out of service.

Re: NS Peavine talk
Continue movement of CCET trains today and yesterday going east. Talked to an engineer yesterday from the CCET they are really busy up east. The Ag is doing very well this year with grain transfers, more grain shipments this year than ever before. Appears to be track work up east as the CCET is open...

The last few months the CCET is getting a few more customers. Line has been very active. New customer in Newtown just came on line last month will need to see how active they will be going forward. New siding has been opened up out east. Cohen as cars on the line and the CCET is hauling scrap metal ...

Re: IORY Customer Lists & Locomotive Roster
Midland sub since your in the know about the I&O I have a question. The rail bridge at that goes over Madison Road at Kenwood Road in Cincinnati has been hit several times by large trucks over the years. The last two years it has been hit the most even by a concrete truck going 40 mph. Of course the...

Re: NS Peavine talk
Had dinner at the Urban Grill in Newtown last night looked on the wall where we were sitting and saw a painting of Chris Edwards Passenger Car. I kept looking at it and said out loud that is the passenger car that belongs to Chris Edwards sitting by the tracks at Broadwell Road. My girlfriend said w...
